Joel Mortiz's award-winning work has been seen in theatres around the world. Current
design projects include: Blue Man Group Tokyo; "Star Wars"
Exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry; Our Town (dir. Aaron Posner)
at Two River Theatre Company in New Jersey. He is the Lighting Designer for
Blue Man Group (Universal Studios Orlando, Amsterdam, Germany). Recent New
York/ Off Broadway work includes Tatjana in Color (Culture Project), wAve
(Ma-Yi Theatre Co.), Just as If (Off-Broadway), Lion in the Streets (29th
Street Rep), The Tempest, Elliot a Soldiers Fugue, Phedre (dir. JoAnne
Akalaitis) at the Fisher Center, and King Stag (dir. Andrei Belgrader) at
Juilliard. Regional theatre and opera include: Shakespeare
Theatre--BeauxStratagem (dir. Michael Kahn); Arena Stage--Passion Play, Cabaret
(dir. Molly Smith); Rep. Theater of St Louis--Bee-Luther Hatchee; Chicago Opera
Theatre--Semele, Rape of Lucretia; Court Theatre--Virginia Woolfe, The Dead,
Phedre, The Chairs; Goodman Theater--28 (with Lookingglass Theatre);

Zimmerman). Joel's work has earned several Joseph Jefferson Awards and
